The film starts with Mei Ling on the way to her first visit of an old granny in her late 60s whose husband had passed on recently. Due to her husband’s passing, the old granny is often unfriendly and treated Mei Ling very coldly when she visited. Hence, Mei Ling can only quietly help the old granny with the packing of her house. When Mei Ling was sorting out the relics of her deceased husband, she found a stack of old but neat papers stored in an old rusty biscuit tin. Out of curiosity, Mei Ling opens up the tin and reads the content of the papers. She then realised that the papers were love letters written by the old granny’s late husband to his wife. At that very moment, the old granny told Mei Ling that those papers were useless, and that she should discard it. Mei Ling then reacted in shock and told her that the letters were not useless, and were love letters for her, written by her husband. The old granny knew that her late husband often wrote, however never knew that what he was writing were all meant for her. Upon realisation, the old granny requested Mei Ling to teach her to write and as time passed, they too began to have a closer relationship. With the help of Mei Ling, the old granny finishes writing a letter on her own - a message for her husband, a reply to all the love letters her husband had written to her. The old granny then burned the letter she wrote, hoping that her late husband would be able to receive it.
